Admission Requirement


Chemistry is a fundamental subject in many areas of science and therefore a good background in chemistry, mathematics, physics, and biology is very important for success. Students who discover that they have some deficiency with regard to background in any of these areas should commit extra study time to improve understanding, especially in the early weeks of the semester. The general entry requirements are as follows:-

  1. Prospective candidates of B. Sc. chemistry major must satisfy the University admission requirements. It is mandatory that the student must have five (5) credits at the ordinary level (GCE, SSCE/NECO etc) in English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and{Physics at not more than two sittings
  2. For a direct entry through IJMB, candidates must possess at least two advanced level passes one of which must be in Chemistry and the other in any science subject (in addition to credits in English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics at ordinary level).
  3. Direct entry candidates through NCE and Diploma candidates must possess credit level passes in two major subjects including Chemistry (in addition to three (3) O-Level credit passes in Chemistry, English and Mathematics.
  4. Above requirements are accepted subject to passing UTME or DE with required points set up by JAMB.
